Greetings from the Talento Bilingue de Houston,
I am so excited to tell you guys my journey so far in TBH. I am currently a Marketing Intern, and Camp Supervisor. This is my second week working at TBH and I absolutely love my job everyday I am presented with different projects that offers a lot of flexibility. For me this job has challenged me in different areas and made me discover my newfound passion for the media and marketing. My co-workers are extremely nice and have welcomed me with open arms. They have given me the opportunity to voice my opinion during staff meetings and have allowed me to explore different roles within the center. I have also made long-lasting friendships with the other interns, volunteers, instructors, and directors. I have improved my technology skills (which are not the best), by using different programs to make flyers, labels, and improving outdated websites. I never realized the importance of technology until I came here. I used to believe that technology would never be my forte, but it has now become a huge part of my work life and I love it.

This place is truly amazing because I am exposed to different scenes. Everyday I see people coming for either the art gallery, summer camp, plays or fundraisers. The Center is unique in the sense that it brings the community together through the arts. It focuses on encouraging the community to learn more about the arts, and hosting events from comedy shows to plays. It truly emphasizes on shaping the community by exposing them to the arts through their own community's perspective. It has been truly exciting working here because the center impacts the lives of its community by encouraging them to pursue their artistic passions. I love how everyone I work with has so many stories to tell because they are involved in so many distinct projects. Through YAP, I was able to learn the importance of never feeling restricted by my major and explore new interests. At TBH, everyone has more than one job and they have included their different passions into their jobs. This has truly motivated me to embrace all of my talents and truly incorporate them in everything that I do because the world is filled with possibilities.
My first day consisted of working with the Flor y Canto summer camp and making sure that the program ran smoothly. I then proceeded to working on editing the program directors website to make new updates and promote the program. I have also been working with Lupe the film director for the movie Beyond Dreams and help him behind the scenes as well making flyers and promoting the show to different areas in Houston. For the Centers gallery, I am in charge of creating labels for the various artworks that local artists bring in to be sold. On Fridays, I am in charge of helping out with TBH's various events ranging from fundraisers to comedy shows.
Please check my snap chat stories and follow me at claudiaayy where I provide visuals daily for all of my exciting adventures with the crazy kids from camp and memorable moments with co-workers.
