So I've never really ever done a blog before but it seems cool that I've read how all your guys internships are going.
For me my first week was pretty easy and steady. I work at Arte Americas which is an art museum that has a lot of Latino artists work such as Frank Romero, Juan de LA Sota, and many more. This museum is maintained by a whole bunch of people who come and volunteer. The only person who does get paid is my supervisor and also our curator Frank Delgado. Are museum is also sponsored and has no admission charge fees.
Our theme right now is South of the grape vine so we have a lot of art pieces from LA artists and new emerging artists. This week I was able to work on placing the name cards with each art piece to get ready for the opening of the exhibit. It also required a lot of reviewing making sure that every name card was placed with the right art work and that everyone's name was spelled correctly.
This week I also had the opportunity to work during our ART HOP which is an event that is held every first Thursday of the month and this is where partnering museums are open late and all admissions are free to the public. Many people of all ages come and visit the different museums and also come listen to the different entertainment. During ART HOP I worked the front desk and kept track of how many people we had come in and also answered a few calls.
Arte Americas also has Night in the plaza where every Friday night they have a banda play and they invite the public to come and join them. Here I worked monitoring the gates and working in the tiendita that is also in the museum. I was also involved in setting up for the the banda and making sure there were tables and chairs for the guests and volunteers.
This week has been a great week and I hope to have some more.
Now just for some photos of where I work and the Night at the Plaza.
e more like this.
