July 15, 2016 - MIM Musical Instrument Museum
Hey, YAP 2016
It's Yudidt! This week has been great! On Tuesday it was me and Julia our "Story Time" event and it was Great! So fun reuniting with her and meeting YAP Alumni. There was about 19 kids there all about under 7 years old with a teen volunteer buddy and we read the story then did the craft. The kids loved the story and how it was cool hearing it in Spanish and English. This little girl came up to me and Julia with a drawing of a Purple Butterfly it was so cute! Julia and I rocked paper scissors for who would get to keep it and she won! :) I am only at the MIM a few days of week but the days I am here I learn something everyday. Yesterday I was in for a conference meeting planning for "Preview Day" for AZ teachers to come and spend the day at the MIM Network and have fun and its free of charge for them to come. The whole month of July Teachers can come in for free showing there badge. That event is coming up which will be my last day. The MIM education team is super cool they do a lot for the Museum with public events to tours and I have been able to experience the work field of a Museum. There is a POP artist gallery where it shows legends and they are updating the Taylor Swift one to her RED tour!! comes out next week so excited to see it and they have her costumes. I have been able to meet Curators which is super amazing they know there stuff. I have been networking and meeting amazing people who work here at the MIM getting rides and meeting Volunteers who guide all the tours. Some of my assignments have been preparing for the next big event like crafts and continuing working on educational worksheets. One huge bonus of the MIM is there cafe where they sell super yummy but expensive food they use local ingredients and I get a discount! Researching for other educational lesson relates to the project we worked on during Washington week. Hope you all have a great week!~

Could you tell me more about the craft event you mentioned? It sounds awesome and I would love to know more. I'm also happy to see that you and Julia had a great time together and that everything went well.
ReplyDeleteSo like I Was saying about Public Events well there is different ones like on a Country. Experience France just happened where I helped on its a two day weekend event and theres activites other than the museum to focus on the country. There is always a fun musical craft.
DeleteA lady who is next to me working in the cubicles is Michelle and she does the crafts so i am helping her. Theres an event coming up for elvis so its also artists or culture. She needs toilet paper rolls for it. I help cut out materials learned to make stickers! stuff like that. :) its pretty chill and fun.
