Atlanta History Center (David Garcia)

Hello everyone,

This week has been super! I have been helping with camps as an assistant. Everyday, I get facilitate the counselors' job by making sure children are playing safe, comporting, and listening directions.
Since the theme of this week's camp is "Weird History" I have learned a lot about important people who have helped shape America in some way. Also, the previous week, I got to learn about an Exhibition called NUEVOlution; located in Levine Museum (Charlotte). This exhibition consists of spreading more information about the Latino culture. The various ways  Latinos have helped shape America in the South, and their struggles to adapt to a new culture while maintaining Latino roots.

Working with children at the Atlanta History Center has helped me think more about how important it is to make sure I am a good role model for them. I always try to get to know every single child better by interacting with them individually, wether by playing games or helping them with their assignments.

The Washing Week experience has definitely helped me grow more, and acquire other adult's qualities I had been lacking. That experience has helped me be a better leader for children and helpful to others in anyway possible. And, I always remember to say YES! - I hope everyone is doing great! Good luck in everything you do my friends! Siempre estare pensando en ustedes. Les deseo lo mejor con todo mi corazon. Exitos!

Saludos,
David A Garcia
